Browsing for Groups is pretty straightforward. There are two Group types: public
and private. A public group will show up on the search page. A private group will
not. A Group has three membership types: open, moderated, closed. If a Group is
open, any member can join without approval. If a group is moderated, you can apply
to a Group. A Group administrator must then approve your application. If a Group is
closed, you must receive an invitation from a Group moderator in order to join it.
If you are a member of a Group you have more options. Group members have a news page,
private chat room, and a private forum. Groups are also able to set up numerous "custom
pages." These pages are fully customizable by Group administrators. These pages are
accessed via a drop down list (Additional Group Pages) within the Group.
Groups are managed and maintained by the Group administrators. You should direct
questions about a Group to the appropriate Group administration. You can start a
Group once you reach Level 40.
FOR ADMINISTRATORS
Group Message - This page will allow you to send a message to all members of
the group. These messages appear in the "Groups" folder of the Message Center.
Applications - This page lists pending applications to the Group. Applications
are only possible if the Group is in membership mode moderated join.
Invite - This page allows administrators to invite members to the Group. This
page functions regardless of what membership mode the Group is in. If the Group is
in Open mode, the invitation directs the member to the Join page. If the Group is in
Moderated mode, the invitation directs members to the Join page, and members will bypass
the application process. If the Group is in Closed mode, the invitation directs
members to the Join page and members are able to directly join the Group.
Kick Member - This page allows an administrator to kick a member from the Group.
Transfer - A Group can only belong and appear on one Dark Network site. However,
the Group owner can transfer a group to another site at any time.
Setup - This page controls the overall behavior of the Group. From here you
can set the Group graphic, name, and description. You can establish custom pages.
You can set the Group type (public or private) and membership mode (open, moderated,
closed). You can also disband the group from here.
